Admission Requirements for Engineering Universities in Canada

Undergraduate programs Admission Requirements;

In engineering, there are different levels of education. Some schools like BCIT, OUC, NSAC, and UOIT offer programs that give you certificates, diplomas, or the chance to learn while working. Other schools, called universities, usually have programs that lead to degrees.

To get into most diploma and certificate programs, you need to finish high school. You also need to get at least 60% in English, math, and physics. If you didn’t finish high school or didn’t take the right classes, there are ways to catch up.

If you want to do a bachelor’s degree in engineering, you also need to finish high school. You usually need around 70-80% average, but it can change based on what kind of engineering you want to do. You definitely need English, math, and physics. Depending on the type of engineering, you might also need chemistry or biology.

Graduate Programs Admission Requirements;

If you want to join a graduate-level program, you need to have a degree in a related field. The field could be engineering, physics, biochemistry, or mathematics, depending on the program you’re interested in. You should have done well in your previous degree, with at least a B+ average, and sometimes it needs to be an honors degree. Also, some programs might want you to have practical experience in engineering, like internships or other types of work.

For a PhD program, you can get in right after your bachelor’s degree if you have a lot of research experience and have published in a respected journal. Or, you can also apply after getting a relevant master’s degree.

Since all graduate programs require you to work with a supervisor, most schools want you to get approval from that supervisor before you’re fully accepted into the program.
