All India Institute of Medical Sciences

The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of autonomous public medical universities that fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. These institutes have been declared Institutes of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. AIIMS New Delhi, which was established in 1956, was the first institute of this kind, and since then, 24 more institutes have been announced. As of January 2022, nineteen of these institutes are operational, and five more are expected to begin operations by 2025. Additionally, proposals have been made for six more AIIMS.

The institute has collaborated with various foreign universities to expand the opportunities for joint research, student and faculty exchange programs. It has also signed an MoU with University College London to enable research collaborations and increase the number of academic and student exchange programs between the two institutions.

AIIMS Delhi provides internships to all students by selecting them for higher studies (UG to PG). Junior residents who pursue post-graduation courses receive INR 64,000, and senior residents who have completed their post-graduation receive INR 74,000 per month for a three-year tenure.

St. John’s Medical College

St. John’s Medical College, Hospital, and School of Nursing were established in Bangalore in 1963, 1975, and 1980, respectively, by the C.B.C.I. It is regarded as one of the best medical schools in India by the Society for Medical Education. The School of Nursing was elevated to the College of Nursing in 1989, and in 1994, all of the institutions were united under the name St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. The most recent addition to the academy was the St. John’s Research Institute in 2004.
